Food Stamps in Montana

In 2008 the Montana Food Stamp program became SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. People who are eligible to receive these benefits must have proof of their U.S. citizenship, a social security number, and acceptable photo identification. They must also indicate the amount of money they earn, the amount of assets they own, and the number of persons living with them.
The application form can be completed online or it can be printed off and be sent by fax or mail. It is also possible to submit the application in person at one of the local offices. Individuals who require their application to be expedited must show that earn less than one hundred and fifty dollars in gross monthly income.
An online screening tool is available to determine whether or not you meet the eligibility requirements for receiving SNAP funds. People who qualify for the benefits receive their funding through an electronic benefits card. The card can be used in place of cash at any local food or grocery store.
